TCA past president, board member, and member, Dan Mahler passed away at the age of 80 on August 5, 2021. As president he guided our group through a period of change and growth, keeping the organization on an even keel and encouraging innovation. We appreciated his intelligence and diligence as he developed a structure and plan for the group to operate more effectively, and we really enjoyed his sense of humor which would crop up unexpectedly.
In 2010, Dan and his wife Kathleen had to endure the noise when the pictured box culvert was installed at the edge of their property. He enjoyed following the project as the purpose of it was to create barrier-free fish passage and the whole area was restored in native plantings.
To our long-standing appreciation and affection for Dan we now add gratitude. He has left Thornton Creek Alliance a generous bequest.
Gentle and steady breezes in your sails, Dan!

Perched culvert outlet on Victory Creek, tributary to the South Fork of Thornton Creek, at 108th Ave NE. Culvert outlet has no pool below it from which fish may jump to enter the culvert. Exposed rough edges along the metal pipe are a clear danger to fish.
