DESCRIPTION:Join us at Meadowbrook Pond for the Tree Care Event on Saturday\, February 27th\, 2024 \n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, February 24\, 202410am – 1pm \n\n\n\nMeet at the end of 36 Ave NE near the address 10700 36th Ave NE\, and we’ll walk into the park to our worksite together. Seattle Tree Stewards and Dirt Corps are hosting a February Tree Care Event at Meadowbrook Pond! Volunteers are invited to join us in continuing vegetation management (removing aggressive weeds) at multiple locations throughout Meadowbrook Pond.  Our work will focus on clearing ivy and blackberry so other plants can thrive\, and help keep the paths clear so folks can enjoy their travels around the Pond.  We’ll meet at the 36th Ave NE entrance\, and walk to our worksite together from there. All skill levels are welcome! Please wear clothing that can get dirty\, including long sleeves\, long pants\, and closed-toed shoes. DESCRIPTION:  \nSummer Social 2023 is July 19th!\nCommunity members gather in the park to connect with old and new friends for fun\, food (including LOTS of free ice cream)\, games\, music\, art\, and to learn what local businesses and non-profit organizations have to offer residents of this beautiful neighborhood. \nEveryone knows that nothing beats summertime in Seattle—and the true highlight is the Maple Leaf Summer Social!  This event is highly-anticipated every year as over 2\,000 people come together to see their friends and meet new neighbors\, buy goods from their favorite businesses\, discover what non-profit groups are doing to improve our community\, and enjoy music\, art\, food\, and lots of free ice cream (donated every year by Maple Leaf Ace Hardware).  \nThe pandemic taught us how vital connection with others is to our well-being\, and there’s no better place for social and business networking than the Summer Social. This City of Shoreline Park is located in the Lyons Creek Watershed which includes creeks that enter Lake Washington then continuing on to Puget Sound. You’ll be helping to improve this shrub and forested area by removing invasive blackberry\, mulching and adding tree guards to new plants added over the winter.
