TCA has a Land Use Committee open to membership that reviews plans for urban development in our watershed. We support density in our neighborhoods, and we encourage close community review of construction permitting and design documents to understand the environmental impact on the creek and its legally protected buffer zones.
The current site of Patty’s Eggnest, 1000 NE Northgate Way, is soon to be redeveloped into a 6-story apartment building with about 160 apartments for individuals and families who make at or below 50–80% of the area median income.
In the works since 2017, this project (permit #3029030-LU) will serve those in need of affordable housing. It is outside of any buffer zone, but still near to Victory Creek Park and Beaver Pond Natural Area, natural amenities that TCA hopes will be supported and enjoyed by a greater diversity of neighbors. More density means parks, open spaces, and greenways within the Thornton Creek Watershed will be needed more than ever for our growing community.
