Washington State Legislature has declared the second Monday of October as Indigenous Peoples Day in the State of Washington; encouraging everyone to recognize the day; and reaffirming the State’s commitment to promote the well-being of Indigenous communities. We acknowledge the land upon which we live, work, and learn as the traditional home of the Coast Salish peoples, the land which touches the shared waters of all tribes and bands within the Duwamish, Suquamish, Tulalip and Muckleshoot tribal nations. We take the opportunity to thank the original caretakers of this land who are still here.
